I’ve just been looking at a disc of some of Richard’s paintings and they are really good. There are several with Brookands as a backdrop of both aviation and motoring - I’m looking forward to seeing some of these in the flesh as I’m hoping he will bring some samples along with him.

There are also pictures of vintage racing and flying at Silverstone and Goodwood as well as some maritime paintings.

You can find more about Richard at http://www.richardwheatland.co.uk/index.html

Here’s a sample of one of his Brooklands paintings, a Bentley heading up the Campbell circuit :-

Wow! This was INTERESTING!
A brilliant speaker, Richard talked for nearly two hours and kept the whole audience enthralled.  His painting subjects ranged from racing cars (Brooklands era and more modern machinery), likewise his aviation pictures and lately his seascapes.  Special mention must be made of his new tendency for subects with ‘reflections’ in them, i.e. the reflections in panitwork of cars,  unbelievable, amazing quality! I urge you to check out his pictures at his website.

Uunfortunately I didn’t get a picture of the “reflections” but they were very good and must take an awful lot of effort to get right.

Here are some of the pics I did take though :-

1) J Class Yachts and an aeroplane (remind me what it is !)
2) Mustang over a Kent air show
3) TSR2 and Lightning flying together - a painting still under construction
4) Richard Wheatland himself
