Great day for all those interested in motorcycling and Brooklands - things are taking shape here with a huge marquee covering the Staff Car Park and Barriers up ready for the bikes to leave the museum for runs on Merceds Benz Worlds’s track - should be a brilliant day - see you there.

It was a busy and very noisy day at Brooklands with the sights, sounds and smells of days gone very much to the fore. The tented paddock area was full of vintage motorcycles with the oldest being from 1908. The spread of bikes on site went right up to the stunning TTX-GP Electric superbike which certainly caused a lot of interest. It was strange after several hours of raoring exhausts going up the test hill and round the circuit the paddock fell eerily silent as the bike purred up the hill at breathtaking speed, just watch your backs as you’ll never hear it coming. I believe this is the first electric motorbike to make an ascent of the Test HIll so putting another mark in the Brooklands History books. The morning saw the Test Hill session whilst the afternoon saw the bikes move over to Mercedes Benz World for some more spirited circuits of their track and the restored Campbell circuit.

Great pics, Tim!  ‘Relived’ was a great event, there should have been more people there though.

Yes you’re right - lots of motorbikes but not enough public spectators. The people there tended to be mainly associated with the bikes and riders themselves so it was reasonably full but I was surprised there were not more people there.

Dear Tim
I just have a little query for you,do you know what the ‘G’ stands for in the picture No2,of the Vincent or should it
read Vincent H.R.D..  Do you have another picture of this bike taken from the other side.

Hello list,

For my first post, I was unable to work out how to start a new thread but I was able to reply to this one. I have a few questions::

1. Was a Brooklands Relived event held this year?

2. Does the annual Brookland Reunion which is run by the (Brooklands Society) have an entry class for motor cycles and what is the normal level of entries?

3. Apart from those one make motorcycle events such as the recent one featuring Cottons does the Museum plan to run any other motorcycle events in 2011?

My reason for asking is that there seems to a current lack of scheduled motorcycle events to attract the general public and I have heard rumours that such events are now discouraged by the trustees on Health and Safety grounds.

To start a new thread. Log in and select the green New topic box on the selected page “motorcycles” etc

The event was in 2009, but there was another in April 2010. The motorcycle team hope to run futher events in 2011, but nothing specific is planned at present. I regret that I know nothing about the Brooklands Society reunions.
