The James May series begins next Tuesday (27th October) at 8pm with the building of the full size Airfix Spitfire at RAF Cosford….which means it won’t be the Brooklands one just yet…..but keep an eye out as it can’t be far away !

Got the Radio Times and the first one is the full size airfix Spitfire on Tuesday followed by three others . The two remaining will follow later including the Lego house ( and possibly the Brooklands one as it was last on the programme list but they didn’t specify). The trick is to keep an eye on the schedules ! Each programme looks like fun anyway !

From the Final Gear Forum that has been covering the filming of the series, shows the following order,
AIRFIX Tuesday 27 October
PLASTICINE Tuesday 3 November
MECCANO Tuesday 10 November
SCALEXTRIC Tuesday 17 November
HORNBY & LEGO Christmas Specials - transmission dates for these episodes are still to be confirmed.

So if this goes to plan Tuesday 17 November at 20:00 is going to be the time to watch.

I couldn’t get to the event as I was working,  so I’m hugely looking forward to the programme ; it’s got to be the biggest ‘free’ advert the Museum has ever had!

Bump! as they say on forums, to bring the subject to public notice again. It’s tomorrow night that Mr May demonstrates why his Scalextric set is bigger than mine!

Really enjoyed the programme and it showed Brooklands off really well. I couldn’t stay for the actual race so I’ve finally caught up .....well done the Aston Martin Brooklands Team !!

I must say that after watching the program it finally made me part with my money and become a BTM member after many years of saying I will join.  Looking forward to 2010.

I was more into trains as a boy, so I was not that interested in the Pendle event. However I was curious to know how the world record scalextric track would be built. I went down to the track on the day and got totally drawn into the whole thing. What a fantastic day and I look forward to a similar event next year. The only problem is; what do you do to top a world record track, a drag strip and runs up Test Hill?

See more of the day on the following YOUTUBE link.
