It would be great if anyone can help out here as the restoration is really taking shape now. It was definelty an eye opener when Steve showed me around the buildings the other day I was amazed at how much work had been done. There’s even new plaster on some of the walls now.

I’ve seen the artists impression of the finished project and it looks really exciting.

Thanks Tim , We are planning some tours for Trust Members and volunteers within the site (Health and safety conditions will apply ) to enable groups to see the progress and future plans for the site . We have photographed every stage of the scheme and will add some images shortly with the scope of the project . For those of you who may have noticed the fencing now includes the Gun tower , a survey of this structure is pending to explore the possibilities of its conservation . Anyone out there got a 40mm Bofor gun or two ?

I think a fantastic job is being undertaken on this historic building. Very pleased to learn that the AA gun tower might be conserved, I am going to the public records office at Kew next week and so will obtain any information I can.

We proposed that while we were concreting and having our scaffold towers etc and fencing up it would be an ideal opportunity to explore the possibility of getting some conservation work carried on the Gun Tower . Julian Temple is now conducting a survey with a concrete specialist, It would be useful if there was a grant or sponsors for this project as its the last local surviving Gun Tower . My Googling found Holton Heath in Dorset with a pair identical…........Our vision would to make it accessible so it could be a vantage point ......................... What a fantastic view ...........another advantage is to fly the Union Flag from the highest point on the site ......... heres the link to Holton Heath .  http://worldwar2airfields.fotopic.net/c1569334.html  Give me a call if anyone finds the Bofor Guns we need to defend the site from invasion .
