We had a grand old time at the Cranliegh Classic Car showand had what turned out to eb our biggest display of cars yet - no less than eight vehicles squeezed on to our plot !

The idea of our outreach shows is to deomonstrate the wide range of Member’s vehicles and not just those that have a pre war heritage. With over 3000 main members there is bound to be a wide range of vehicles owned and to show this diverseness we had cars ranging from a new Mini to a 1929 Bentley. My 2000 MGF and Diana’s Morgan were next in line for age then the twio car rides kit cars (both MGB based), Angelas 1938 Ford Prefect and Rolie’s Austin 10 added to the list. Bob Webb’s fantastic mini motorcylce and sidecar combo finished the display and drew many interested looks during the day. IN fact the whole stand was eye catching and the organisers have promised us a much bigger space next year !

The show itself was huge with nearly 2000 classic vechiles on display - think of a classic and it was bound to be there - from an Allegro to a Lamborghini !

I’ll post some pictures tomorrow as I’ve run out of time now !

The new gazebo has arrived and it’s a sturdy affair which should protect us from the elements when we’re out and about at future shows.

It’s first outing will be on Monday when it appears , along with the team, at Surrey County Show in Guildford. We’re over near the control tent this year so if you’re at the show look out for the new gazebo !

Did anyone here come to the talk by Ted and Judy Howles on their epic trip to South America with their Reliant Scimitar GT? It was certainly a bit of an endurance trial in their car , brought for just £250 (with another much more considerable amount spent to make ready for the extreme contditions they would encounter). A fascinating story and one which Ted said he would like to repeat….but in a 4x4 with air con next time !
