BTM Outreach

During the year we visit many shows, fetes and events with our Outreach team.

The purpose is two fold. Initially to promote, educate and inform the public about Brooklands with our display of Brooklands photographs and usually a static vehicle to show. Secondly we try to encourage people to become a Brooklands Trust member by telling them of the benefits and handing out leaflets. Many do join as a result of the efforts of our hard working Outreach team.

You may be out and about at some of these shows yourself so do come and say hello if you spot the yellow and green flags. We’re always more than happy to chat to you about the BTM or Brooklands itself.

Can you help?

Inevitably there are more shows than the small team can actually attend, all are volunteers and we are always on the lookout for more people who can help in the stand. It’s great fun and involves set up and take down of the stand, arranging vehicles to attend, manning the stand and talking to the public. Most events are reasonably local to Brooklands although sometimes we go further afield to large national shows such as Race Retro in Coventry, the Classic Motor Show in Birmingham and Goodwood.

Talks to Groups, Societies, Clubs etc

We can talk to your group about Brooklands. We have developed a presentation covering the entire history of Brooklands from its conception in 1906 right throught to to the lively Museum of today. On the way we show how Brooklands was built, the early racers, the social changes of WW1, the interwar years, the major change of WW2, pre and post war aviation, aircraft manufacture and the Museum as it is today. The presentation is fully supported by photographs of Brooklands both ancient and modern.

All we ask in return for visiting your group is a donation to the Brooklands Museum Trust which is a registered charity.

We are currently running this talk as a double act by BTM administrator Tim Morris and Outreach Co ordinator David Norfolk. We might not be Morecambe & Wise but we'll certainly give you an interesting  hour or so on the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation.
